To be a participating school, a school must schedule the free program from Duke Energy and The National Theatre for Children during the current school year. The building must also receive electricity from Duke Energy.

Yes, you can request a kit. If you are not a Duke Energy customer, you will not qualify to receive a kit — however, your request will still be credited to your school and count toward program rewards.
If you request a kit but you received a kit within the last 36 months, you’ll get a letter thanking you for your participation and stating when you will be able to receive another kit. Your request for this year will still count toward school rewards.
If you received a kit through the My Energy Kit program more than 36 months ago and you meet other qualifications, you will receive another kit.
Families at participating schools in Indiana, North Carolina and South Carolina can submit a request at any point during the program year – July 2023 through June 2024.
In order for requests to be counted toward school rewards, requests must be submitted by the school’s respective program deadline.
The goal of the My Energy Kit program is to engage all students and staff at participating schools to practice energy-saving habits. By requesting the Energy Kit, you’re doing your part to save energy and helping your school win cash rewards.
Yes. The Energy Kits are completely free, including free shipping.
No. Kits will only be delivered to individual Duke Energy account holders' residential addresses. To receive an Energy Kit, each individual household must submit a request independently. (Again, one per household.)
Every family that would like a free kit has to request one individually for their home. There are two ways to request a free Energy Kit:
If you don’t see your school on the list, it is likely because your school is not served by Duke Energy and thus is not eligible for the program, or it is because the ZIP code you entered when filling out your home address does not match the ZIP code of your child’s school.
In the event that your school is not shown because you live in a non-matching ZIP code, scroll to the bottom of the list and select “I don’t see my school listed here.” Then, write in the name of your school in the field that appears.
Your request will only be eligible and count toward school rewards if your school has scheduled a program and is participating in the My Energy Kit program during the current school year.
Since kits are available for eligible Duke Energy account holders, it is necessary to verify a Duke Energy account with each request. Providing an account number is the easiest way to verify an account and ensure that an eligible household will receive the kit. In order to receive a kit, you must be a current residential Duke Energy customer.

For a request to count toward school reward eligibility:
Once you enter your home address, complete with your ZIP code, a dropdown list of schools in your area will appear on the site. Schools are listed in alphabetical order by name. In the event that your school is not shown because you live in a non-matching ZIP code, scroll to the bottom of the list and select “I don’t see my school listed here.” Then, write in the name of your school in the field that appears.
Winners will be contacted via the phone number or email address they provide. The My Energy Kit team will announce grand prize winners in emails to educators, on the Reward Updates page on MyEnergyKit.org and post winners to the My Energy Kit Facebook page. Visit the Rewards page to see when the winners of each prize are announced.
Throughout the school year, the My Energy Kit team will send biweekly emails to enrolled educators with an update on your school’s progress. Your school’s number of kit requests is also posted on the Reward Updates page at MyEnergyKit.org. Not only will you be able to see how many kit requests are credited to your school, you’ll also be able to see how that translates to real energy saved. Pretty cool!
Duke Energy is providing free Energy Kits for qualified Duke Energy account holders in North Carolina, South Carolina and Indiana to help reduce energy consumption. This effort will help lower energy usage and costs in households plus conserve valuable energy resources.
Power plants can be costly investments, so Duke Energy wants to help customers use less energy to delay construction of new power plants. Saving energy can also help reduce the need for them to turn on more power plants during peak times, which is good for the environment.
Your Duke Energy account number is located on your Duke Energy bill. You can also find your account number by logging into My Account.
If you can't find your Duke Energy bill with your account number, please contact the My Energy Kit Hotline at 1-855-386-9548 for assistance. You can also sign in to your Duke Energy My Account and view the account number on the dashboard after logging in.
